Wartrace thanks volunteers with holiday celebration

Each year the town hosts a Christmas dinner to express its gratitude to volunteers throughout the community including firefighters, committee and board members, and others whose work makes a positive impact.

Mayor Thomas Hurt presented a certificate of appreciation to individuals and businesses that contributed to the new fountain. They included: Patsy and Bobby Gregory, Garrett Winnette, First Community Bank, K & A Foundation, Duck River Electric Membership Corporation, Pat Gore, and Greg and Lisa Curl. The historic fountain commemorating the beginning of the Waterworks and Sewer service in 1936 was replaced this year. The old fountain had been renovated numerous times throughout the last 80 years and could no longer be repaired.

The new fountain pictured below was photographed by Pamela Page.

During the holiday celebration, children and families also met with a special guest from the North Pole who brought good tidings (and gifts) for good boys and girls.
