Billing and Payment Information

Utility bills are due the on 12th of every month.

Payments may be made via NexBill payment portal, check, or cash at Town Hall or via the drop box located on the front door. However, we are not responsible for lost cash payments placed in the night deposit box.

Payments received after the 12th will incur 10% of the outstanding balance as an penalty. Service cut-off procedures can be performed any time after ten calendar days from bill due date without notice. Failure to receive a utility bill does not alleviate responsibility of customer's obligation to retain services.

Reconnection Fees

Leak Adjustments

  • Reconnection Fees due to non-payment is $50.

  • An additional call-out fee of $60 will be charged to have water turned back on after 4:00 PM.

  • All reconnection fees must be paid in cash or money order.

  • It is the customer’s responsibility to make sure they receive a receipt for all cash payments & retain a copy of that receipt for their records. The water department will not be responsible for any cash payment not accompanied by a Wartrace Receipt.

  • The Wartrace Waterworks and Sewer System is currently undergoing a rate study, performed by the Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS). When the study is complete, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen will revisit the rates charged to water and sewer customers.

The water department grants one leak adjustment a year. The year begins when you receive your adjustment. (example: You receive an adjustment in May of 2026 your will not be able to take another adjustment until May of 2027.)

These adjustments are based on a 6-month’s average including the leak month.

The adjustment is based on consumption and not the monetary transactions. If the customer makes his usual payment during the leak month, all penalties will be adjusted as well as the consumption.
